Port of Spain, December 6th, 2024. On the occasion of the 52nd Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Trinidad and Tobago and CARICOM-Cuba Day, Cuban Ambassador Gustavo Veliz Olivares was interviewed on Trinidad and Tobago's state television, known as TTT, according to its English acronym.
During the interview, the Ambassador expressed gratitude for the support of Trinidad and Tobago and other Caribbean countries in advocating for the lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba. He also highlighted Cuba's annual offering of scholarships to the Caribbean and the training of Caribbean students in Cuba, as part of the collaboration and exchange that has developed with CARICOM countries over the years. He further emphasized cultural similarities with Trinidad and Tobago and the prospects for relations between the two countries.
To mark the occasion, the animated film "El Maestrico", the documentary "Tarea Vida", and the fictional film "Viva Cuba" will be broadcast on national television through TTT. Introducing these Cuban audiovisual works, the Ambassador highlighted the common challenges shared with the Caribbean, such as climate change, and mentioned achievements of the Cuban Revolution, such as the literacy campaign.
