Arab Regional Center of the Lebanese Women’s Rights League Demands an End to the U.S.-Imposed Embargo Against Cuba
Ambassador Jorge P. León Cruz received, at the Cuban Embassy in Beirut, a delegation from the Arab Regional Center of the Lebanese Women’s Rights League. The delegation, representing women’s organizations, feminist groups, social movements, and friends of the solidarity movement, demanded an end to the U.S. blockade against the Caribbean island, which has been in place for more than 60 years.
The delegation included Wafy Ibrahim of the Lebanese Women’s Rights League, representing Aida Nasrallah, Arab Regional Coordinator of the International Women’s Federation; Marie Debs, president of the WARDE BOUTROS Organization; Khaldat Hussein of the NADA Organization; Samira Salah of the AJIAL Organization; Dunia Khodr of the Working Women’s Union; and Hanan Osman of the NOUROUZ Organization for Kurdish Women.
The female delegates requested that a message of solidarity and support for the Cuban people be sent to the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), and they expressed their willingness and called for more concrete actions in support of Cuba. In this regard, they reported that they plan to send a donation from Bahrain and are currently making the necessary arrangements.
The Cuban diplomat, on behalf of the FMC, expressed sincere gratitude to the delegates from the Arab Regional Center of the Lebanese Women’s Rights League for their valuable expressions of solidarity with Cuba.
In addition, the occasion provided an opportunity to present them with a summary of the main impacts caused by the blockade, which was expanded upon and explained in detail, and to provide them with an update on the intensification of the blockade, the energy blockade that the United States imposes on Cuba, and the threats of military aggression against the island—which poses no threat to U.S. national security.
