“Ars Longa” Ensemble triumphs in Vienna

"Ars Longa" Early Music Ensemble successfully performed in the "Großer Saal” of the emblematic “Wiener Konzerthaus”. The Ensemble presented the concert entitled "Misa Guadalupana", in the framework of the “Resonanzen Festival”, which this year has as its main theme "The ten commandments".

The event which is dedicated to ancient music, is a space where the prestigious Cuban ensemble already has an important endorsement, having performed in four of its editions, with different repertoires and a high professionalism and versatility, which distinguish and identify it.

The "Misa Guadalupana" was performed by "Ars Longa" in the Festival and directed by the talented soprano Teresa Paz. It was a colourful and harmonious show, combining the traditions of America and Europe; a journey through baroque and the festive reference to the Third Commandment.

It was a Latin "Mass", enjoyed with ovations by the demanding Viennese public, grateful to receive the warm rhythm of Cuba, in the cold European winter.

“Ars Longa” made Cuba and its culture shine. The Cuban Ambassador in Austria, Loipa Sánchez Lorenzo and other members of the Cuban diplomatic representation, who attended the concert, congratulated the Ensemble and wished it every success in the rest of its European tour, which will have its next season in Croatia, a country where they have already performed in many festivals.

"Ars Longa" Early Music Ensemble was founded by Teresa Paz and Aland López in 1994 and it is part of the Office of the Historian of the city of Havana since 1995. It comprises musicians who graduated from music conservatories in Havana and from the Higher Institute of Arts. The Ensemble has dedicated its performances, study and research to various periods and styles, from the Middle Ages to Baroque. It hosts “Esteban Salas” International Early Music Festival, which takes place every year in Havana.
