Ottawa, April 20, 2020- The Association of Cubans Resident in Ottawa sent a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, requesting Canada's support for the lifting of the U.S. blockade on Cuba.
In the letter, the president of this Association, Rolando Hernández requests the Government of Canada to support actions that encourage the US government to lift the blockade against the Cuban people and thanks Ottawa's traditional support for the resolution that Cuba presents every year to the United Nations General Assembly, entitled "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United State of America against Cuba.
The letter highlights Cuba's international cooperation and its contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the world despite the blockade.
To date, Cuba has sent 22 medical brigades from the Henry Reeve Contingent to 21 countries, they are specialized in disaster situations and serious epidemics, to contribute to the confrontation of the COVID-19.
