Austria-Cuba Friendship Association gathers the Viennese public against the blockade and in solidarity with Cub

“Cuba SÍ, bloqueo NO” was the call made by "ÖKG", the Austrian-Cuban Friendship Association which gathered hundreds of participants to the public activity carried out in the Viennese district of Wieden, where ÖKG´s  headquarters are located. The activity aimed at showing neighbors and visitors the solidarity work they do with Cuba and at calling the attention of new members. In a festive atmosphere enlivened by Austrian musicians and Cuban residents, the participants spoke out against the blockade and received updated information about Cuba.

Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba attended the activity and together with the Ambassador, Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios and the Diplomatic Mission personnel recognized the permanent solidarity work executed by ÖKG, informing and denouncing the aggressions against Cuba and supporting the country through projects and donations.

The Minister stressed the importance of the support of the solidarity movement with Cuba to face the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States and other aggressions against Cuba and celebrated the high convening power of the Austrian organization, which is complemented by founders and young people.

Jessica Müller, ÖKG´s President thanked the Minister and the Ambassador for their presence in the activity and reiterated the historical support of ÖKG for the Cuban Revolution.

ÖKG was founded in 1969. It has accompanied the Revolution in all its actions. It has branches in Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Carinthia, Salzburg and Graz regions.
