Vienna, Jul 14 (Prensa Latina) The Communist Youth of Austria (KJÖ) issued a statement condemning the presidential memorandum of Donald Trump's administration, which reinforces the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
The document issued from Washington and released days ago, is a reissue of National Security Presidential Memorandum No. 5 of 2017 and represents a new attempt to suffocate the island and undermine its sovereignty, the statement said.
It further denounced that “for more than 60 years, the United States has imposed a criminal blockade that prohibits trade relations with Cuba, aggravating the difficulties in the supply of essential goods for the people” and called that policy “an imperialist attack against socialism and the sovereignty of Cuba.”
The resistance of the Cuban people against imperialism is exemplary, but the blockade must end now. We join their struggle and demand an immediate end to this inhumane measure, the communiqué stated.
The KJÖ is the youth organization of the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) and brings together young communists united by the idea of a just world. For more than 50 years it has defended the struggle against capitalism, fascism and imperialism.
In his denunciation he expresses that "Under Trump's first term, the blockade was significantly tightened in 2017 and the memorandum was recently reissued. Propaganda wants to justify this crime with outdated myths (...) and wants to see socialism in Cuba crushed.
The blockade is intolerable and must cease immediately! Cuba's determination to resist imperialist pressure and stand united in defense of socialism and sovereignty prevents total collapse, but the supply situation must be improved by ending the blockade. We stand in solidarity with Cuba and its struggle against imperialism, let us stand together against the blockade, concludes the document.
