Vienna, September 22, 2026. – Andreas Babler, Austria’s Federal Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media, and Sports, received Pablo Berti Oliva, Cuba’s Ambassador to Austria, at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media, and Sports.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat presented concrete figures illustrating the effects of the U.S. blockade against Cuba and detailed its impact, particularly on strategic sectors such as health, education, and services.
The Federal Vice-Chancellor expressed his close attention to the situation in Cuba, particularly during the year 2026, and recalled Austria’s historic support for the Cuban resolution against the blockade within the framework of the United Nations. The highest-ranking representative of the Austrian government showed particular interest in the blockade’s impact on health and food security, as well as its effects on children, the elderly, and the sick.
