The Austrian Labor Party (ALP) Expresses Solidarity with Raúl Castro and Condemns the U.S. Fictitious Arrest Warrant

Vienna, May 23, 2026.—The Austrian Labor Party (ALP) issued a statement expressing its strongest solidarity with the former President of the Republic and leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro, following the issuance of a fictitious arrest warrant by the U.S. Department of Justice at the behest of President Donald Trump.

The PdA denounced that the United States has obstructed Cuba’s development by every means since the 1959 Revolution, using methods of state terrorism and, in recent months, attempting to economically and socially strangle the island through an oil embargo. “If anyone deserves to be in prison, it is not the revolutionary Raúl Castro, respected throughout the progressive world, but Donald Trump and his corrupt and bellicose gang,” the text states.

The Austrian organization warned that Washington intends to replicate the Venezuelan scenario in Cuba, but expressed its conviction that no other Delcy Rodríguez willing to betray her country will be found on the island. The PdA wished Raúl Castro, who will celebrate his 95th birthday on June 3, “good health, all the best, continued energy, and the iron will to fight the revolutionary struggle.”

The Austrian Labor Party has historically stood in solidarity with Cuba, actively participating in efforts to denounce the blockade, sending solidarity brigades, and supporting the Cuban people’s right to self-determination and their socialist path.
