Vienna, May 11. – The Austrian Labor Party (ALP) and its youth organization, JungendFront (Youth Front), have issued a joint statement of firm support for Cuba in the face of the intensification of the blockade imposed by the Donald Trump administration, as embodied in the new Executive Order of May 1.
In the text, released this weekend, the Austrian political organizations express their full solidarity with the people of Cuba. “Likewise, we assure the Communist Party of Cuba and the Revolutionary Government of our active support in their struggle against U.S. imperialism, its contempt for humanity, and its arrogance.”
The statement denounces that the new blockade measures, which affect sectors such as energy, mining and metallurgy, defense, and banking, aim to force Cuba to abandon its socialist model and turn it into a protectorate. The organizations warn that “this blockade policy is accompanied by constant threats of military invasion of Cuba.”
Throughout 2026, the Labor Party and its Youth Front have carried out extensive solidarity efforts with the island, issuing several communiqués and statements so far this year in which they not only demand that the United States immediately lift the blockade, but also call on the Austrian federal government and the European Union to take concrete action to counter this policy of economic suffocation. These political forces have established themselves as an active and consistent voice in the defense of Cuban sovereignty and international law.
