Austrian youth will participate in the 52nd European Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba “José Martí”.

Vienna, July 14 - A group of 11 young Austrians, committed to internationalist solidarity, will participate in the 52nd edition of the European Brigade of Voluntary Work and Solidarity with Cuba “José Martí”, organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in coordination with the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG).

The brigade, which will run from July 15 to 30, 2025, is dedicated to ICAP's 65th anniversary and will allow participants to learn first-hand about the Cuban reality. The brigadistas will have the opportunity to do volunteer work in community projects, visit places of historical, economic and cultural interest in the provinces of Artemisa, Sancti Spíritus, Villa Clara and Havana, while exchanging with representatives of Cuban organizations and the people, delving into current national issues.

During a preparatory meeting, the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Embassy in Austria, Reinier Travieso Guerra, encouraged the young people to make the most of the debates on Cuban current affairs, as well as the planned meetings.

Other Embassy officials present at the meeting also told them that the brigade will allow them to understand first-hand the challenges facing Cuba and how, despite the blockade, the social achievements of the Revolution are being maintained.
