The press agency of Azerbaijan, AZERTAC, highlighted today the victory of Cuba in the United Nations where the resolution was passed: Need to end the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba, with 187 votes favor; 3 against and 2 abstentions.

With the headline: “Cuban President praises the UN resolution on the end of the embargo,” the Azeri mediator highlights that Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Thursday praised the almost unanimous support of the international community to end the commercial embargo of half a century imposed by the United States on his country.

According to AZERTAC, during a vote at the United Nations Organization (UN) held on Wednesday, 187 member states voted to end the embargo, which is called a blockade in Cuba, while Brazil and Israel joined States United to vote against. Colombia and Ukraine abstained. "Voices of the world united against the blockade of Cuba," Díaz-Canel wrote on Twitter.

The media also stresses that it is the twenty-eighth time that the UN General Assembly adopts a resolution calling for the end of the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba in the era of the Cold War.
