Barbadian Senate President meets Cuban Ambassador.

The President of the Senate, Honourable Senator Kerryann Ifill received in the parliament the Cuban ambassador, Francisco Fernández Peña, welcoming him to Barbados while expressing his sincere wish that the historical relations existing between the two countries continue reaching higher stages. In addition, she confirmed the support of Barbados and all CARICOM member countries have spoken out in favor of lifting the blockade, while she wanted a good outcome to the ongoing restoration of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the US, benefiting the entire region, with which Cuba has maintained a continuous cooperation. In thanking the courtesy meeting, which was preceded by the delivery of a postal card sent by the President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, Ambassador reiterated the willingness of his government and in particular of the Cuban Parliament by closer ties of cooperation with Barbadian counterpart agency. In that context, he updated his distinguished interlocutor on priority issues in which is involved the people of Cuba, including legislators, to move forward on updating the national economic model and deploy initiatives for economic and social development on the Island, also indispensable to maintain high levels of cooperation with the region.
