Barbados Solidarity condemns the blockade in Cuba

Today, at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Barbados, Ambassador Yanet Stable Cárdenas met with David Denny, president of the Barbados-Cuba Friendship Association, and other members of the solidarity movement with Cuba. Also present were Martha Ortega, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Barbados, and César Benedetti, First Secretary of the Embassy.

For more than two hours, the solidarity group discussed the current situation facing the Cuban people following the intensification of the U.S. embargo. They strongly condemned the Trump Administration's Executive Order issued on January 29 and reaffirmed their commitment to taking various actions to break the economic blockade imposed on Cuba and provide solidarity and humanitarian aid to the Cuban people. For her part, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Venezuelan Embassy provided an update on the situation in her country following the events of January 3, in which the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, the activist Cilia Flores, were kidnapped.

Ambassador Yanet Stable deeply appreciated these expressions of solidarity and reiterated that, “in times of adversity, the support of sincere friends strengthens the principles of justice and cooperation with Cuba.”
