Port of Spain, June 13, 2023. The "Latin Nights" cultural festival was officially inaugurated at the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago (NALIS) yesterday, which contributes to the rapprochement and knowledge of the cultures of various countries of the region and it will be a propitious occasion to promote the study of the Spanish language.
During the event made interventions Ms. Paula Greene, Executive Director NALIS; Senator The Honourable Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and Her Excellency Tania Diego Olite, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba and Dean Diplomatic Corps. All of them highlighted the role of culture in creating bridges of between peoples that bring them closer.
The central remarks were in charge of The Honourable Symon de Nobriga, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister who highlighted the priority that the Trinidadian government grants to develop cultural initiatives that promote interaction with the Latin American environment.
The first day was dedicated to the Republic of Panama and featured the participation of the renowned Panamanian artist Idania Dowman.
Cuba will make its presentation on Friday, June 16 at 6:30 pm with the projection of the film "Esteban" and other cultural and dance performances from of our country. An exhibition of serigraphs from outstanding Cuban painters as Mariano Rodriguez, Flora Fong and Jose Manuel Garcia Rebustillos is part of the Cuban cultural presence in NALIS.
