Cambodia reaffirms firm support for Cuba and its right to Peace

PHNOM PENH, February 28, 2026.—Firm support for the Cuban people and their right to peace was once again made clear here today in statements by the President of the Cambodia–Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, Nin Saphon.

“Cuba is not alone. For more than six decades of bilateral ties, our nations have supported one another, and we will continue to do so,” the lawmaker emphasized while receiving the Cuban Ambassador, Milena Zaldívar, with whom she held a fraternal meeting.

During the dialogue—during which both sides conducted a positive assessment of bilateral relations and addressed the complex current situation facing both countries—Nin also expressed her admiration for the Cuban people for their courage and sacrifice.

For her part, Zaldívar thanked the parliamentary leader for her explicit commitment at a time when Cuba is facing the impact of the application of new unilateral coercive measures, unjustly imposed by the United States as part of its policy of tightening the economic, commercial, and financial blockade.

The ambassador also reaffirmed the commitment of the Cuban government to deepen the strong ties that unite it with the Kingdom, through bilateral cooperation in areas with the potential to achieve mutual benefits, such as agriculture, health, education, tourism, trade, and collaboration between women’s organizations.

According to diplomatic sources, both sides advocated expanding inter-parliamentary dialogue on issues of common interest, with the conviction that it will continue to grow for the benefit of sustainable development and regional and global stability, under all circumstances.

They also agreed to promote the continued strengthening of relations of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the two countries, as well as mutual collaboration in defense of just causes.
