Ottawa, January 28.- Canadian intellectuals and friends of Cuba, Arnold August and Keith Ellis, will be representing Canada at the IV International Conference for World Balance, which is being held in Havana from January 28-31, with over 600 delegates from 62 countries attending.
The scientific program of the Conference includes a wide range of spaces to discuss on topics like education, bioethics, environment, solidarity, human rights, cultural policies, international relations, social communication and parliamentarism. A youth forum as well as other numerous activities will be held in parallel.
During the Conference, the Cuban intellectual Roberto Fernández Retamar, President of Casa de las Amércias, will be awarded the International UNESCO/José Martí Prize.
Arnold August tweeted that he got “there in time for the Equilibrio event and the Jose Martí activity to celebrate the anniversary of his birth”, making reference to the historic March of the Torches — which starts at the stairway of the University of Havana and concludes at the Fragua Martiana monument— to commemorate on this occasion the 166th birth anniversary of Cuban National Hero José Marti.
