Celebrated in Indonesia the 60th Anniversary of Cuban Revolution

Jakarta, January 21nd  – The 60th Anniversary of Cuban Revolution was celebrated in Indonesia this January 11th with a reception presided by  Mr. Hanif  Dhakiri, Minister of Manpower on behalf of Indonesian government and Nirsia Castro Guevara Ambassador of Republic of Cuba.  Also attend to this celebration Mr. Utut Adianto, vice-speaker of Parliament, and Ms. Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, President of Bung Karno Fondation and daughter of Acmehd Sukarno, first Indonesian President. Besides, were present officials for Foreign Affairs Ministry, the diplomatic corps, representatives from governmental institutions, friendship organizations and Cuban residents in Indonesia. 

During her welcome remarks, Cuban Ambassador highlights the achievements reach for our country in different areas as social and economics, after January 1st 1959 and the huge efforts of Cuban people in order to obtain the most justice and equality possible despite of difficulties caused by the permanent economical aggression.  The diplomat informs about the process of preparation of the new constitution that will be submitted by referendum net February. This Constitution reflects the changes experimented by the country in las years and future projection.

In other hand, Mr. Hanif recalled to mind the friendship ties between Indonesia and Cuba that go back since the visit of Ernesto Guevara to Jakarta in1959. “The Indonesian president Achmed Sukarno was the first head of state to visit Cuba after the triumph of the Revolution”  he also remembered.

Cuba and Indonesia established diplomatic relation on January 22nd, 1960. Since then , booth countries maintain links focus of collaboration and technical assistance in areas as sport and agriculture. Also Indonesia and Cuba share positions in topic of international agenda and support each other in multilateral forums.
