Beirut January 23, 2019. The 60th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution was celebrated in this capital with great joy. The evening was attended by representatives of the State, the Government, the Foreign Ministry, the accredited diplomatic corps, political, social, religious forces, organizations of solidarity with Cuba, Cuban residents and graduates in Cuba.
In his words, the Cuban Ambassador Alexander Pellicer Moraga referred to the aggressions that the Revolution has suffered in these 60 years, among which he highlighted the actions of armed bands financed by the North American Government, the plans of attack against Fidel and other leaders, sabotage, terrorism and the cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the island.
"However, the Cuban people, proud of their history and culture, committed to the ideals and the work of the Revolution, have managed to resist and win in the six decades of uninterrupted struggle in defense of our sovereignty." The Cuban diplomat affirmed.
Pellicer Moraga also referred to the solidarity labor of the Revolution with sending of health professionals, teachers and sports coaches to third world countries, at the same time thousands of young people of all continents have been trained as professionals on the island.
The Ambassador affirmed that the blockade continues being the main obstacle to the economic and social development of Cuba, but in spite of this, the country had reached rates of health, education and scientific advances compared to highly developed countries, how much more could we have achieved without this cruel economic and financial siege?. He asked himself.
The head of the Cuban diplomatic mission thanked the Lebanese authorities and the representatives of countries, political, social and solidarity organizations for the unconditional support they have given Cuba in its fight for the lifting of the blockade.
Beyond the formalities and the tribute for the revolutionary triumph and its victorious course of six decades, a Cuban band entertained the evening with performances such as the Guantanamera, Chan Chan and the iconic Hasta Siempre Comandante, dedicated to Ernesto Che Guevara. (Embacuba Líbano)
