New Delhi, 26 July 2026 - With emotional acts of solidarity with Cuba, the historical significance of July 26, 1953 was remembered in India today.
The 26th of July Movement, inspired by the historic attack on the Moncada Barracks in 1953, led by Fidel Castro, marked the beginning of the Cuban revolutionary struggle that finally triumphed in 1959. Together with Che Guevara and countless revolutionaries, the Cuban people demonstrated that determined resistance can defeat imperialism and forge a sovereign future. In West Bengal, friends of FOLA and AIPSO met to express their solidarity with Cuba and condemn the recrudescence of the criminal U.S. blockade against the Cuban people.
In Odisha, the day included a state-level convention organized by the Committee of Solidarity with Cuba, where solidarity with the people of Cuba was reaffirmed and greater international support against the continued US economic blockade was called for.
In New Delhi, the National Committee of Solidarity with Cuba organized various initiatives to reaffirm its unwavering solidarity with our people. At the headquarters of the Communist Party of India, a program was carried out with the assistance of the National Secretary of CPI, P. Sandosh Kumar, the deputy, the national executive member Nisha Siddhu, the president of AIKS, Rajan Kshirsagar, the president of AISF, Viraaj Devang, AISF Secretary General Dinesh Seerangaraj, and young cadres.
In commemorating Moncada Day, we reaffirm our solidarity with the people of Cuba and all those who fight against imperialism, exploitation and injustice. The spirit of Moncada continues to inspire struggles for peace, sovereignty, social justice and socialism around the world.
