Celebration of the 71st anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos M. de Céspedes barracks in Trinidad and Tobago

Port of Spain, July 28th 2024. Members of the Association of Friends of Cuba in Trinidad and Tobago (T&TFC), Cuban residents, members of the "Abraza a Cuba" Association, graduates from Cuba, collaborators of the Medical Brigade, and members of the Diplomatic Mission commemorated the 71st Anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks.The headquarters of the Petroleum Workers Union in San Fernando served as the venue where, in a fraternal and patriotic gathering, union leaders, collaborators, and Cuban residents highlighted the historical significance of the heroic Moncada feat.

The speeches condemned the unjust inclusion of Cuba in the list of state sponsors of terrorism and once again demanded the lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against our country. Speeches were given by Clyde Callender, President of the Friends of Cuba Association (T&TFC), Ozzi Warwick, Secretary of the Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM), and David Abdullah, Political Leader of the Movement for Social Justice (MSJ).The Cuban Ambassador, Gustavo Véliz Olivares, thanked the participating organizations for their expressions of support against the blockade and the list of state sponsors of terrorism, particularly the demonstrations in front of the U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain.

The Association of Cuban Residents presented an audiovisual on the date and subsequent evaluations by the Commander in Chief regarding the historical importance of the Assault on the Moncada.
