The members of the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG, by its German initials) and the staff of the Cuban Embassy in this country celebrated the 61st anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution at "Habana Club", the headquarters of the solidarity organization.
ÖKG´s President, Michael Wögerer, delivered emotional words to the history of the Cuban Revolution, highlighting its impact on the generations of young people in the world, including the Austrian one, which among other actions, founded the friendship organization in 1969. On behalf of the organization he reaffirmed the commitment of Austrian friends to continue supporting the Cuban Revolution.
Ambassador Loipa Sanchez Lorenzo thanked the Board of Directors and members of the ÖKG for their unconditional support for Cuba and for holding the event, which has become a regular event, on the first Monday of every year. She referred to the challenges faced by the Revolution in the year ahead, particularly due to the tightening of the blockade and the overall aggression of the U.S. Administration against Cuba; assuring that the Cuban people, with resistance and work, will continue strengthening the socialist Revolution.
At the event, the new quarterly edition of the magazine entitled “Cuba Sí!” was lunched, a publication of the ÖKG, which includes an interview with the Cuban Ambassador and a comprehensive report on the impact of the U.S. blockade against Cuba for almost 60 years.
