Port of Spain, October 2, 2025. As part of the 5th Edition of the “Latin Nights” in Port of Spain, organized by the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago (NALIS), a photo exhibition dedicated to the centenary of the Commander in Chief was opened to the public. The program of activities also includes the screening of the documentary “The Merit is to Be Alive”, produced by Mundo Latino in 2006, scheduled for next Monday, October 6.
During the inauguration of the “Latin Nights”, the Assistant to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Mrs. Erika Fortune, delivered remarks in which she welcomed the participation of the Latin embassies accredited in Port of Spain for their contribution to integration and cultural exchange with Trinidad and Tobago.
The occasion was also an opportunity for the Cuban Ambassador, Gustavo Véliz Olivares, to share with Mrs. Erika Fortune the images featured in the photo exhibition dedicated to the Historic Leader of the Cuban Revolution, including photographs of his meetings with former Prime Ministers of Trinidad and Tobago, Eric Williams and Basdeo Panday.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela was responsible for the presentation on the Opening Day. The Venezuelan Ambassador, Álvaro Sánchez Otero, current Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, offered an overview of the cultural presence of Latin American countries in Trinidad and Tobago.
A representation of the collaborators from the Cuban Medical Brigade in Trinidad and Tobago joined the attendees during the solemn event.
