Within the framework of the activities organized by the League for the Rights of Lebanese Women against gender violence, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls, and the Human Rights Day, a session of talks was held in this capital, whose central theme was the challenges that women still face in contemporary societies and particularly in Lebanon.
In the interventions of academics and activists, the role that Cuban women have played in the development of the revolution was highlighted and they also stated how the Federation of Cuban Women, Cuban counterpart institution of the League, has focused on promoting equal rights of Cuban women for many years.
In this scenario, the Charge d'Affaires a.i. from the Embassy of Cuba in Lebanon, Emilio Pevida Sánchez, thanked the president of the League for the Rights of Lebanese Women, Mrs. Aida Nasrallah, for the invitation and expressed the importance of continuing to promoting the inclusion of women in our societies to achieve the long-awaited equality of rights between men and women.
This conversation was crusial to highlight the role that women play in our societies, just a few days before the League for the Rights of Lebanese Women celebrates its 75th anniversary.
