Addis Ababa, November 9, 2024.- The Kenyan candidate for the presidency of the African Union Commission and former Prime Minister of Kenya, H.E. Raila Amolo Odinga, spoke this morning with partner states and observers of the continental organization, as part of the launch of his presidential campaign.
The meeting, sponsored by the Kenyan Embassy in Ethiopia, was also attended by the Kenyan Foreign Minister, H.E. Musalia W. Mudavadi, who accompanied the candidate in the official launch of his campaign at the AU and in the collateral meetings with the member states and today with the partner states.
Odinga presented his pan-Africanist vision and strategic priorities for the AU Commission, highlighting his focus on advancing the goals of Agenda 2063, security and stability on the continent, strengthening African integration, infrastructure development and strengthening the African voice on the world stage.
The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Cuban embassy, Natalys Dinza, held an exchange with H.E. Odinga in which she expressed her best wishes during the upcoming elections and her aspiration to further strengthen relations between the AU and the countries of the South, with special emphasis on the observer states of the organization.
Odinga, for his part, highlighted Cuba's historical relations with African countries and recalled moments of his visit to the Caribbean island.
For his part, Kenya's ambassador to Ethiopia, H.E. George M. Orina, underlined his participation in the G77 plus China Summit last year in which he was part of the Kenyan delegation.
Odinga is competing for the presidency of the Commission with the current foreign minister of Djibouti, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, and the former foreign ministers of Mauritius and Madagascar, Anil Kumarsingh and Richard Randramandrato.
