Monrovia, March 6, 2020 - At the invitation of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection of Liberia, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady, and women's organizations, the Cuban Chargé d'Affaires in that African country, Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera, attended the celebration of International Women's Day.
The celebration was attended by Liberian President George Manneh Weah who launched the Liberian Women's Manifesto. There was also a great awareness of the Domestic Violence Act, and copies were distributed to the Heads of Entities and Gender Focal Points.
The event was held under the Global Theme: "I am Generation Equality: Realising Women's Rights" and the National Theme: "Women's Rights for Generation Equality".
The event took place today at the headquarters of the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.
