Dear all,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Cuban Residence in Austria. I thank you for your presence at this gathering that we have organized on the occasion of the visit to Austria of the Transimport delegation.
Firstly, I would like to share with you our satisfaction and gratitude to Department 48 of the Mayor's Office of the Austrian capital, for the proposal of cooperation between Havana and Vienna, and specifically for the expressed willingness to send a donation of 10 urban solid waste collection trucks to Cuba, bringing the similar and invaluable experience between the two cities in years 2000 and 2001 back.
The collection of urban solid waste in Havana is one of the most complex issues of the Cuban capital, nearly half of the collection trucks required by the province are paralyzed, and this makes difficult the collection of more than 23 thousand cubic meters of waste which are generated daily.
In this regard, the donation of the collection trucks will constitute a significant contribution to the enormous efforts and actions under way to guarantee the collection of urban solid waste and the sanitation of the city.
Transimport delegation that accompanies us today is composed of Juan Carlos Feé, Director of Imports and Jorge Luis Fontova, Expert from the Technical Assistance Department. Transimport is the central Cuban company of supply and sales of heavy equipments and its parts which belongs to the Foreign Trade Business Group (GECOMEX). The Government of Havana has requested the company to assume the technical and logistical coordination required for the shipment of the donation considering its experience when importing heavy equipments and that is the main reason of the visit of the delegation to Austria.
It only remains for me to reiterate our gratitude for the donation proposal, at such a timely moment for Havana, just in the framework of the arrangements for the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Foundation of the Village of San Cristóbal de La Habana.
This Friday, 16 November, Havana celebrates the 499 years and next year (2019) it will be 500th anniversary.
I thank you very much
(Embacuba Austria)
