Port of Spain, August 7, 2026. Dr. Simone McFee and the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba appeared on The Morning Brew, broadcast by CNC3 (Guardian Media Group), where they discussed the enduring legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and the challenges currently facing the Cuban people.
During the interview, they promoted the commemorative activities marking the centenary of Fidel Castro’s birth, including the ceremony to be held at the Port of Spain City Hall on August 13, as well as events taking place in dozens of cities around the world and the International Colloquium to be hosted in Havana.
The Ambassador addressed the unjust U.S. sanctions imposed on Cuba for more than six decades and their impact on the daily lives of the Cuban people, compounded by measures affecting the country's energy sector.
For her part, Dr. Simone McFee shared her experience as a medical graduate from Cuba, highlighting the high quality of her education and the values of solidarity and humanism that shaped her time on the Island.
