Copenhagen - The Cuban Embassy in Denmark held an event on March 3 to commemorate the 58th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution and pay tribute to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. The event was attended by more than 100 friends of Cuba, including the ambassadors of South Africa and Benin in Denmark, Zindziswa Nobutho Mandela and Eusèbe Agbangla; diplomats from the Embassy of Venezuela; The Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship; members of the 3F trade union; from the communist parties and Cuban residents in Denmark.
The Cuban Ambassador to Denmark, Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas, highlighted the greatness of Fidel as the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution and his legacy to the Cuban people and the world, he referred to the achievements of the revolutionary government despite the blockade and ratified that Cuba continues to work on building a prosperous and sustainable socialism. Sven-Erik Simonsen, president of the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship, who personally met the Commander-in-Chief during his visit to Copenhagen in 1995, reaffirmed the Association's will to continue developing actions aimed at lifting the unfair blockade imposed to Cuba. Caja Bruhn, on behalf of the 3F-Copenhagen trade union, mentioned the historical links of the Danish trade unions with the Central Union of Cuban Workers (CTC) and highlighted the frequent dialogue that Fidel used to have with the Cuban workers. Arne Cheller, the president of the Communist Party in Denmark (KPiD), reiterated his confidence in the Cuban Revolution and also stated firmly the need to eliminate the blockade, as well as the commitment to continue supporting Cuba in future battles that could be faced.
One of the Vice-Presidents of the Danish Parliament, Christian Juhl, of the Unity List Party, as well as members of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Denmark and representatives of other solidarity groups were also present. (Embacuba Denmark)
