Ottawa, August 13: On the afternoon of Monday, the collective of the Cuban Embassy in Canada with the friends of the solidarity groups Ottawa-Cuba Connections and ALBA Social Movements Canada - Ottawa Chapter commemorated the 92 Anniversary of the Birthday of the Commander in Chief and historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.
In the name of the friends of solidarity, Pille Taylor expressed her admiration for the work of Fidel, his legacy, and example for Cuba and for the world. She also reiterated the commitment to continue supporting the Cuban Revolution and to demand from the US government, the end of the economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba.
For his part, the Chargé d'Affaires a.i, Giuvel Orozco Ortega, highlighted that the ideology and example of Fidel is one of the most valuable treasures of the Cuban Revolution. At the same time, he stressed that Fidel's legacy is a guide to the current process of constitutional reform, whose text is discussed by all Cubans. He reiterated the commitment of the new generations to defend his work.
During the evening we enjoyed the documentary "Anécdotas about Fidel" by the filmmaker Estela Bravo, which includes testimonies of prominent Cuban and American personalities, artists and intellectuals.
