Commemorative event in India for the 163 anniversary of the birth of Jose Marti.

New Delhi, February 10, 2016. In coordination with the Embassy of Cuba, the public school in India that is named after José Martí celebrated the 163 anniversary of his birth with a political-cultural gala attended  by H.E. Mr. Oscar Martinez Cordovés, Ambassador of Cuba and Mrs. Parmila Tokas, a member of the Indian Parliament as guests of honor.

In this tribute to the national hero of the Cuban Revolution that the directors of the institution made to coincide with its Annual Day, to also reward students and teachers with relevant results and recognize the winners of children's painting competition about José Martí also attended as special guests, officials from the ministry of education, directors of various government schools in the capital and other officials of the Cuban embassy.

During the activity, the Cuban ambassador together with other special guests placed wreaths at the bust of José Martí. Later was celebrated the political-cultural gala where the intellectual and human qualities of Cuban National Hero were highlighted, as well as the traditional relations of friendship between Cuba and India. A group of school children representing 1302 students from this campus interpreted several national dances and one of our island.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Cuban Head of Mission stressed among other things the universal significance of Martí, emphasizing his role as a guidance of the revolutionary struggle that earned him the status of National Hero of Cuba. The Cuban diplomat also thanked the support of India to Cuba in our struggle for national sovereignty, and expressed his best wishes for the strengthening of relations (CubaMinrexEmbacuba-India).
