At the initiative of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), a joint statement was published on February 13 by communist and anti-imperialist youth organizations from around the world condemning the increasing aggression by the USA against Cuba.
The statement strongly condemns the Trump administration, which is now following its imperialist intervention in Venezuela the attacks against Cuba were intensified with open audacity. Washington is preparing a new operation to smother socialist Cuba economically and commercially. Customs duties and sanctions should be imposed on those states that supply Cuba with oil and other vital goods. A „naval blockade“ is also openly being considered. „These measures are in addition to the criminal blockade that the United States and its allies have imposed on Cuba for decades, exposing the Cuban people to severe deprivation and deficiencies“, said the signatory organizations.
In addition to the Union of Young Communists (UJC) from Cuba itself, a total of 31 organizations have signed the declaration (as of February 16). The Youth Front of the Labor Party has signed from Austria, as has the Communist Youth of Austria. The other signatories include the Communist Youth of Venezuela (JCV), the youth organization of the Tudeh Party of Iran, the Palestinian Communist Youth Union and the Revolutionary Communist Youth League (Bolsheviks) from Russia.
The youth organizations pledge their solidarity with the Cuban people, the Cuban Communist Party and its youth organization and call on the youth of all countries to intensify their commitment to ending the threats and the barbaric blockade.
