Conga cubana opens the Latino Carnival in Viena

Cuban artists living in Austria staged a conga and colorful comparsa in the traditional stop that, as every year, leaves the Latin Carnival inaugurated that runs through the main streets of downtown Vienna.

Summoned by the popular Danzón dance hall of this city, the Cuban conga made the temperature rise in the usual cold Viennese atmosphere and dragged thousands of passersby after the overwhelming pace of the comparsa.

Carnival is a tradition deeply rooted in the Austrian folk traditions, which in Vienna begins in mid-January with the season of ballroom dancing and extends until March. In total, from the Emperor's Ball in the Hofburg Imperial Palace until the end of the season there are about 2,000 carnival events in Vienna, of which 300 are dance events to the beat of an orchestra.
