Courtesy visit to the Cuban Embassy of the Ethiopian filmmaker, Negash Abdurahman and former Ethiopian ambassador to Cuba, Berhanu Dibaba

Addis Ababa, January 14, 2025.- The Ethiopian filmmaker Negash Abdurahman, creator of the documentary "Cuba in Africa" and the former Ethiopian ambassador in Havana, Berhanu Dibaba Kumma, visited the headquarters of Cuba's residence in Ethiopia, on a courtesy visit to the new ambassadors of Cuba appointed to the country and the African Union, Meylin Suárez Álvarez and Lucas D. Hernández Polledo.

During the meeting, they extended a warm welcome to the country to the ambassadors and family, while conveying their willingness to work together with the Mission for the upcoming activities in greeting the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Ethiopia.

The interlocutors discussed the reach and recognition that the documentary has had in several cities around the world, and their recognition of the Cuban epic in southern Africa that allowed the consolidation of Angola's independence and that of Namibia, as well as weakening the apartheid regime and enabling the freedom of South African leader Nelson Mandela.

Both ambassadors thanked the visit and highlighted the ties of brotherhood that unite Cuba with the countries of Africa forged in common principles of solidarity and friendship. 

They also thanked Negash for the excellent short film that manages to capture the essence of the Cuban military experience in the south of the African continent.
