Zagreb, February 25. The Croatian magazine Epoha recently published an opinion piece by Professor Silva Knežević in which she makes a strong call for international solidarity with the Cuban people and questions the silence of certain media outlets in the face of the difficulties facing the island.
In her text, Knežević highlights solidarity initiatives such as the “Let Cuba Live” manifesto, promoted by a hundred prominent figures in Spanish culture, including actors Javier Bardem and Carlos Bardem, as well as renowned publicist Ignacio Ramonet. The author stresses the importance of speaking out against the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, which has been exacerbated by Donald Trump's executive order decreeing a total blockade on fuel supplies.
The professor also denounces what she describes as “media complicity” on the part of those who prefer to remain silent in the face of injustice or who tend to wait for negative headlines about the island, thus highlighting the resistance and dignity of the Cuban people.
