Croatian Socialist Workers' Party (SRP) Denounces U.S. Economic Genocide Against Cuba and Demands the Immediate Lifting of the Embargo

Zagreb, June 22, 2026 - The Socialist Workers’ Party of Croatia (SRP) issued a  statement of solidarity with Cuba in which it condemns the economic war that the United States has waged against the island for more than six decades, calling it “open economic genocide” and warning that the intensification of the blockade under the Trump administration seeks to drive the Cuban people into hunger and despair.

Among its demands, the SRP called for the immediate and unconditional lifting of all sanctions and blockades against Cuba, an end to threats of military aggression, the removal of the island from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, and an end to the persecution of activists in solidarity with Cuba by the FBI and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which have harassed, detained, and interrogated those who bring humanitarian aid to the island or publicly defend the Cuban Revolution.

The Socialist Workers’ Party of Croatia (SRP) is a socialist and anti-imperialist political party that has consistently shown solidarity with Cuba over the years. So far in 2026, the SRP has issued multiple statements of support for the island and has called on its members to organize rallies, demonstrations, and campaigns to collect aid for Cuba, reaffirming that “the struggle of the Cuban people is also the struggle of the working class against imperialism.”
