Addis Ababa, March 24, 2024. The Ambassador of Cuba to the African Union Lourdes Marrero Oro, gave an interview to the YouTube channel “Europe for Cuba”, where she addressed topics of interest about Cuba-Africa relations.
The Cuban Ambassador highlighted the long friendship between Cuba and the countries of Africa, based on very solid foundations guided by the brotherhood and cooperation.
Lourdes highlighted the support of African nations for the Resolution against the blockade that is adopted every year in the African Union Summit, considering it as massive, and highlighted that for 15 consecutive years a Resolution of its own has been approved within the AU demanding the end of this policy.
During her speech, the Cuban diplomat explained the heartbreaking impact that the inclusion of Cuba in the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism has for the Cuban people and highlighted the importance of denouncing for the first time at the 37th Summit of the African Union the claim for the expulsion of Cuba from this unilateral list.
Ambassador Lourdes expressed "... the unanimous condemnation by the member states of the African Union of Cuba's inclusion in this list is a political and moral endorsement of Cuba and they see it as something unjustifiable, because they know that we are a nation universally recognized for our spirit of solidarity and support for different causes of social justice, which we also practice internationally."
