Cuba and Bhutan celebrate the 12th anniversary of bilateral relations.

Cuba and Bhutan celebrate the twelfth anniversary of diplomatic relations, established on September 26, 2011. Since then, both countries have strengthened the ties of friendship, collaboration and dialogue. Cuba is proud to have contributed, from its humble possibilities, and very modestly to the social development of Bhutan with the granting of scholarships for the study of medicine. We also deeply appreciate Bhutan's solidarity in our demand to end the United States blockade, expressed in support for the United Nations General Assembly resolution that expresses the global request to end this policy. This relationship has its fundamental antecedent in the meeting in Havana between the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the then King of Bhutan, His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, during the latter's attendance at the VI NAM Summit in 1979. .
