Addis Ababa, September 3, 2026.- As part of ongoing efforts to deepen ties of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and The Gambia, Cuba’s Ambassador to the African Union, Lucas D. Hernández Polledo, met with H.E. Ms. Salimatta E. T. Touray, Ambassador of The Gambia to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union. The dialogue provided an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and existing prospects for expanding cooperation across various sectors, as well as the role of both nations in multilateral forums.
The conversation also addressed the current international landscape and the challenges facing developing nations. Both diplomats agreed on the importance of strengthening coordination, dialogue, and solidarity among countries, and of continuing to work—within the African Union and other multilateral arenas—to defend shared interests and promote international relations based on respect for sovereignty and cooperation.
