The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Georgia, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, and the Deputy Head of the Georgian National Tourism Agency, Rusudan Mamatsashvili, held a meeting to evaluate the cooperation of both nations in that matter, as part of the visit of work that the diplomat develops in this Caucasian nation.
At the meeting, the vice-minister of tourism gave a detailed presentation on the particularities of tourism in Georgia and highlighted that in 2018 more than 7 million tourists arrived in their country.
For his part, the ambassador made a presentation of the progress of the tourism sector in Cuba and exposed the potential of the island's tourism development.
He said that Cuba has experienced a boom in tourism in recent years and that it represents the most dynamic sector of the Cuban economy and the second source of income in the country behind the sale of professional services abroad.
Nieves Portuondo invited the Georgian counterpart to the International Tourism Fair "FitCuba 2019" to be held in Havana between May 7 and 11 of the coming year.
