Namibia, February 18th, 2021- Sidenio Acosta, Ambassador of Cuba to Namibia, held a meeting with the Minister of Education, Arts and Culture of this African country, Hon. Ester Anna Nghipondoka, where the main cooperation issues in these areas were reviewed.
Minister Nghipondoka, who is also a member of the National Assembly of Namibia, thanked the invitation received from the Cuban Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez, to participate in the international congress "Pedagogy 2021", which was organized from Havana and was held virtually, between February 1st and 3rd. The Namibian parliamentarian appreciated the quality of the event and the opportunity to exchange with colleagues from different parts of the world.
For his part, Ambassador Acosta updated the Minister on the incidence of Covid-19 in Cuba, the effects of the pandemic on the school year and the measures taken to control it. Likewise, he explained the tightening of the blockade against Cuba and its strong impact on all spheres of life in the country. The Cuban diplomat expressed gratitude to Namibia for its unconditional support against this genocidal policy of the United States.
At another point in the meeting, which took place in an atmosphere of brotherhood, the representatives specified details for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation between this Namibian ministry and the Cuban Ministry of Culture. In this regard, the Ambassador highlighted the profitability of the exchange for both parties, taking into account the Namibian potential and the broad Cuban experience in promoting art and culture. The agreement will be signed in the next few days.
Also present were Juan Carlos Oliva Núñez, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Cuban Embassy, and Faustina Namutenya Carley, Namibian Deputy Minister of Education, Arts and Culture.
