The Peace Memorial Hall of Kingstown was the scene of the political-cultural event for the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
In the presence of Her Excellency Susan Dougan, Vice Governor-General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, during the activity took the floor Sandy Peters -Philips, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Commerce of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Thornley Myers, on behalf of the Cuba-SVG Friendship Association and the Cuban Ambassador to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Vilma Reyes Valdespino.
Among those present were the Honorable Julian Francis, Minister of Transport, Urban Development and Local Government; Honorable Cecil McKie, Minister of Tourism, Sport and Culture; Honorable Montgomery Daniels, Minister of Housing, Informal Settlements, Lands and Physical Planning; the Honorable St. Clair Jimmy Prince, Minister of Education, Ecclesiastical Affairs and National Reconciliation.
The closing remarks of the event were given by the Honorable Saboto Caesar, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, who emphasized the strong and fraternal ties between the two countries. He also drew attention to the special sentiments of sympathy and affection existing between the peoples of the two countries and the importance that St. Vincent and the Grenadines attaches to their links with the Largest Island of the Greater Antilles.
The interpretations of the Vincentian dance company "La Gracia", that of the singers Kamara "Keido" Foster and Hance John, as well as the always awaited performance of the young steel pan percussionist Rodney Small, delighted those attending the activity.
The irruption of the Cuban musical group "Calle Cuba" completed the beautiful cultural mosaic with a cascade of contagious Cuban and Latin American rhythms, which ended up, putting the audience to dance on stage.
