Ottawa, April 12, 2019.–The 23rd edition of the Ottawa Latin American Film Festival, organized by the Canadian Film Institute, was officially opened this Friday in the Alma Duncan room of the Art Gallery of the Canadian capital and will run until next May 1.
In this edition, Cuba will present on Thursday, April 18, the film Nido de Mantis (Mantis´ Nest) with the presence of outstanding Cuban actor Luis Alberto García, one of the central characters of the film.
The members of the diplomatic mission present at the Festival opening gala, exchanged with the organizers of the event, colleagues from the diplomatic corps and general public, especially with Cubans living in this city who take advantage of this space each year to reunite with their culture, and where they have the possibility of tasting Cuban traditional dishes and drinks.
The Latin American Film Festival has been held since 1997 and Cuba has been participating since its beginning. It is one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year in Ottawa which only features contemporary premieres from Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, Chicago and Havana film festivals, to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures of Latin America and the Caribbean.
