Cuba expresses gratitude for traditional support for lifting the blockade and removal from list of state sponsors of terrorism, and reaffirms historic support for Palestinian cause
Ambassador Jorge P. León Cruz received the Palestinian ambassador, Dr. Mohammed Al Asaad, and they held a positive exchange on the latest developments in Cuba and Palestine.
The Cuban diplomat thanked Palestine for its traditional support for the struggle to end the blockade and remove Cuba from the spurious list of states allegedly sponsoring terrorism, on which it should never have been included.
The Palestinian ambassador thanked Cuba for its traditional support in the historic granting of scholarships for the training of Palestinian professionals and praised the Cuban ambassador's reiteration confirming that Cuba ratifies the urgent need to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the creation of two states, allowing the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and to have an independent and sovereign state within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
During the meeting, broad international support for the recognition of the Palestinian State was evident. Both parties welcomed the close relations between Cuba and Palestine and advocated continuing to work to strengthen them.
