Cuba–Grenada Friendship Association honors the legacy of Commander Ramiro Valdés

The Cuba–Grenada Friendship Association expressed its condolences on the passing of Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez. In a message dated June 24 in Saint George’s, the organization highlighted Valdés’s historic imprint and reaffirmed the bonds of brotherhood that unite both peoples.

“Commander Ramiro Valdés was a pillar of strength and guidance in the Cuban Revolution, one of Fidel Castro’s most faithful and trusted companions,” stated the declaration signed by the Association’s President, Dr. Terrence Marryshow. The text underscores that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

Dr. Terrence Marryshow, physician and President of the Cuba–Grenada Friendship Association, has been a key figure in promoting bilateral ties. Under his leadership, the organization has advanced initiatives that strengthen solidarity between Grenada and the Island.

Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, Commander of the Revolution, was one of Fidel Castro’s closest historic leaders. He took part in the assault on the Moncada barracks and in the Granma expedition. Over nearly seven decades, he held top responsibilities in Cuba’s defense and development. His trajectory made him a symbol of loyalty and steadfastness within the Revolution.
