Cuba is working to provide safety to the over 51 thousand tourists that are currently vacationing in the island, especially to those 36 thousand tourists staying in vulnerable areas of the North coast, where Hurricane Irma is expected to hit the hardest.
The Ministry of Tourism of Cuba, Marrero Cruz said that the private houses will be also checked to see if they comply with safety measures and in case there are tourists staying in houses that do not have the conditions to endure the impact of the hurricane or and in areas that can flood, they will be secure shelter in safe hotels.
Together with the evacuation measures for tourists, the admission of new visitors into the tourist poles will be halted considering the course of this meteorological event. In the case of foreigners, they will be relocated to safer locations.
