Cuban Ambassador to Grenada, Yadirys Echenique Paz, participated this Sunday in the commemorative event organized by the Ex-PRA and Patriots Welfare Association to mark the 47th anniversary of the Grenadian Revolution. The event also provided an opportunity for representatives of the Grenadian people to express their solidarity with Cuba.
In her remarks, the Cuban diplomat stated that for Cuba, it is both an honor and a duty to participate in the commemoration of the Grenadian Revolution, a process to which the Cuban people were fraternally united. The ambassador recalled the figures of Maurice Bishop, as well as Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, leaders who shaped the history of the continent through their firm anti-imperialist stance and their defense of the sovereignty of nations.
The Grenadian Revolution, led by Maurice Bishop in March 1979, represented a project of social and political transformation that awakened hope in the Caribbean. Although it was interrupted in October 1983 following the US military invasion, its legacy continues to be a symbol of independence, dignity and resistance for the peoples of the Caribbean in the face of imperial domination.
