Cuba is invited to participate in the Caribbean Conference on Alzheimer.

President of the Barbados Alzheimer's Association, Pamelia Brereton, invited its counterpart from Cuba to attend the Second Caribbean Conference on Alzheimer's and other mental illnesses. Dr. John J. Llibre, president of the Cuban Section of Alzheimer attended the event held at Bridgetown from February 23 to 25, which was also attended by executives and experts from the region, being inaugurated by the Minister of Development social, Hon. Steven Blackett and a high rank representative of the International Alzheimer Society.
Several attendees officials agreed in their presentations about the high incidence of these diseases in society and the need to advance the effective implementation of the strategies identified to address it, element passing through a system of preventive health, improving life patients a multidisciplinary way and alleviate the conditions of those relatives or social workers responsible for the care of affected citizens.
During the meeting Dr. Llibre, a leading researcher in this field, and Cuban Ambassador held fruitful working contacts with government authorities and the Barbadian Association, with whom the ideas of a technical assistance project was discussed by which will be shared the Cuban experience with a view to contributing to Barbados count the short term with a National Plan to combat these diseases.
