Barbadian Health Minister highlights possibilities to expand cooperation with Cuba.

The Minister of Health of Barbados, Dr. John Boyce, emphasized the high quality of the Cuban public health system and the opportunities identified during his recently concluded visit to Havana to expand bilateral cooperation. During a political event of the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP), which was attended by several government ministers, Boyce highlighted the excellent organized program, the fruitful dialogue with his Cuban counterpart, Dr. Roberto Morales, and the exchange that occurred on the visits made to various health institutions.

Cuban sports cooperation with Barbados to be extended.

The signing of a new two-year contract between the National Sports Council (NSC) of Barbados and Cubadeportes has propitiated to extend existing cooperation in six disciplines, which was extended to seven, by including Athletics, thus adding eight Cuban trainers in the country. The four new coaches are Isaac Oliva (Athletics), Reinaldo Rodriguez (Swimming), Alfredo Boza (Table Tennis) and Jose Hernandez (Volleyball) who complement the work of Angel Marin (Field Hockey), Mikhail Santos (Cycling) Felipe Alvarez (Boxing) and Julio Madrazo (Volleyball).

Minister Blackett to evaluate a Cuban technical assistance project on Alzheimer.

Minister of Social Development, Stephen Blackett, received the Cuban Ambassador, Francisco Fernandez, to evaluate ideas in a technical assistance project for which Barbados would be provided with a national plan to tackle Alzheimer's is based. UNFPA proposes to Cuba triangular cooperation with the Eastern Caribbean

In a meeting with Mrs. De-Jane Gibbons, Assistant Representative of the Agency of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for the Caribbean, Cuban Ambassador to Barbados, Francisco Fernandez, expressed approval of his government to evaluate various triangular cooperation projects for the benefit of other Eastern Caribbean nations in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, early pregnancy and related, for which Cuba would bring their experiences and experts in the coming year 2016.

Cuban Ambassador payed a courtesy call to CARICOM´s Representative
