The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Embassy in India, Abel Aballe Despaigne, participated in a Conference on Video Games, Animation and Visual Effects (GAFX 2024) held in the southwestern Indian state of Karnataka. The event was organized by the state government and the ABAI (Animation, Video Games and Comics) center.
The Cuban diplomat participated as a panelist in one of the sessions of the Conference, where he addressed the development of the film, audiovisual, video games and animation industry in Cuba. He highlighted the existing synergies for the development of trade and cooperation relations, as well as the relations between the industries of India and Cuba, particularly in terms of the Latin American and Caribbean market. He also extended an invitation to participate in the main events in Cuba in the Sector, particularly the International Fair Informática 2024, to be held in March.
The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. also communicated the intention to sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of video games with the University of Computer Sciences of Cuba (UCI), as a first step for the development of the partnership between both countries in this field.
At the event, Indian interest in these issues was reflected in particular in articulating a greater integration between the film and audiovisual industries of the two countries, in terms of filming productions in Cuba.
The Conference was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Siddaramaiah and was attended by thousands of professionals, artists and students. As every year, panel discussions, presentations and live competitions were held as part of the event.
