Cuba participates in the International Film Festival of Kerala.

This weekend concluded the 28th edition of the Kerala International Film Festival, one of the most renowned film festivals held in India. Cuba was the country invited as guest of honor and counted with an outstanding presence of our Cuban cinematographic art. As special guests were present the renowned directors Alejandro Gil and Jorge Luis Sánchez, and producer Rosa María Valdés, who presented a special sample of Cuban films including "Inocencia", "El Benny", "Cuba Libre", "El Mayor", "Los Sobrevivientes", "Muerte de un Burócrata", "De cierta manera" and "Cuentos de un día más", which were pleasantly received by the public and the press. During the screenings, the Cuban participants were able to exchange with the audience and filmmakers from India and other countries. 

The closing ceremony of the event was attended by the Cuban Ambassador to India, Alejandro Simancas Marin, who highlighted the excellent opportunity to have a Cuban delegation and make available titles of our filmography as a relevant contribution to the cultural exchange and friendship of Cuba with India and especially with the state of Kerala where there has always been a special feeling of solidarity, sympathy and friendship towards our country. Cuban filmmakers were honored during the closing ceremony with a special award in recognition of their works and Cuban cinema in general. 

The Festival had a high international presence and also Indian cinema. Kerala is an Indian state located in the south of the country, in whose capital Thiruvananthapuram the Festival was held.
